We visited on Christmas Eve, shop assistant at the spirit section was so helpful, he recommended a particular type of port , we were buying for a gift... as I couldn't decide.I dropped a Christmas card for my Grandson, it had cash in it, I didn't' realise until I got home, my husband rushed back to the store and spotted a lovely couple holding the card, they were about to hand it in to customer service, just wanted to say thank you so much! ️

I quite like Waitrose, as far as supermarkets go this one is on a better end of the spectrum though it does not beat shopping in lovely local markets for a fresh local produce. This particular Waitrose just appears a bit run down, you pay a bit of a premium price (in comparison to other supermarkets) but the facilities feel old, car park looks a dirty mess, I always fear touching the door on my way down or up from car park, I heard from my partner that toilet was very dirty when he used it (I will not be to be checking). I like the produce, but do not not like shopping there (staff are very nice but the facilities feel below avarage). Unfortunately online shopping requires planning ahead with very few slots available in Edinburgh. On the bright side - good selection of cheeses from different parts of Europe, the organic meat is not too bad, fruit and veg are decent, stunning view from top level car park which is typically half empty.

The staff at this branch lack sense and initiative - they are totally gormless.I have seen just how obsequious Waitrose Shop Assistants are when the late Queen and King Charles have visited one of its branches: bowing and scraping at every turn. I would like just a small fraction of the same attention enjoyed by the monarch when I shop at Waitrose Comely BankOn Saturday, th November, , I could not find any mushrooms displayed in the Fruit and Vegetable Section of the store. I could not find any shelf edge labels where mushrooms would have been displayed if they were available. As there were no Shop Assistants in the Department, I approached the Customer Service Desk. I asked a Shop Assistant walking past on the customer side of the Desk for help and she asked me,"is it an emergency?"I responded, 'I have been kept waiting."I went on to explain about the non-availability of any mushrooms. She instructed a young man wearing a headset to send for a Fruit and Veg Worker. Ten minutes later, no one had bothered to come to help me. I complained to the same woman who replied,"Has no one come to see you?"She did not offer to investigate the non-availability of mushrooms herself or bother to walk around the section to see if she could find them. Although, she was pleasant and polite.I asked to speak to the Branch Manager and was told that she was not at business. I replied,"I have shopped here for eight years. Whenever I have asked to speak to the Branch Manager, he or she is never available. I am always told to speak to a manager wearing a Waitrose overall. No wonder things never improve."My money is as good as the monarch's money so why are the Royal Family treated with such ingratiating respect by Waitrose's Managers and Shop Assistants; indulging their every whim. The Woman who helped me should have taken my details and asked the Branch Manager to contact me.At the Fish Counter on the same day, I mentioned that this was my second visit to the Branch when I had not been able to buy fishcakes at the counter. I was told that there were fishcakes available on the shop floor. I pointed out that the ones on sale over the counter were of a different quality. The young girl just looked at me. I responded,"So, what are you going to do about it."She muttered something about checking tickets out the back and I had to suggest,"How about, I shall mention this to the Branch Manager and see if we can improve availability."Waitrose Managers and Shop Assistants pull out the stops for the Royal Family and treat those of us who keep the business ticking over with loyal custom week in and week out contemptuously. Are these the egalitarian values of the John Lewis Partnership?

I don’t know if you have visited the men’s loo in the Waitrose comely bank branch recently but I have and what I saw disgusted me. There was excrement smeared on the wall of the stall and graffiti everywhere. This is not something I would expect from a high quality supermarket like Waitrose. I do hope that Waitrose see this review and do something about it because this is disgraceful!
